Giterra live map showing where each trip member is

One map, the people you are with

Groups split up. Two people go to the market, three stay at the café, one goes back for a jacket, and then everyone is texting "where are you?" into a chat nobody is reading. Giterra puts the group on a single map so you can see where everyone is and go meet them, instead of describing a street corner to someone who cannot see it.

Shared with the trip, not the internet

Location is shared inside one trip, with the people on it, and nowhere else. It is off until you switch it on, and it does not follow you between trips.

You decide how long

Sharing has a timer. Turn it on for thirty minutes while you are finding each other in a crowd, for a few hours during a day out, or leave it on for the trip if that is what your group wants. When the time is up it stops on its own — you do not have to remember to turn it off after the flight home.

And you can end it at any point, without asking anyone.

Useful exactly when you need it

The map shows where each person was last seen and how recently, so you know whether you are looking at someone who is on their way or someone whose phone has been in a pocket for an hour.

  • Off by default, on only while you choose
  • Thirty minutes, one hour, four hours, eight hours, or until you stop it
  • Visible only to the members of that trip

Most of the trip you will not need it. The half hour you do — a festival, a station, a market — is the reason it is there.
